Editorial Policy

Last updated 14 September 2026 ElementLookup.com

Element Lookup is built as an educational chemistry reference. Our editorial rule is simple: answer the learner's question directly, then explain the science well enough that the answer makes sense.

What we publish

Element Lookup publishes interactive element guides, foundational chemistry lessons, comparisons, visual teaching models, evidence notes, FAQs and printable student material. Pages are designed to distinguish a quick factual answer from the deeper explanation behind it.

Scientific source standard

Scientific numbers and claims are based on appropriate authoritative or primary-quality sources. Depending on the field, these may include IUPAC, NIST, PubChem, the Royal Society of Chemistry, USGS, IAEA and peer-reviewed literature. Search demand, AI output or a competing website is never treated as the authority for a scientific value.

For more detail, see Data & Evidence and Methodology.

Evidence and uncertainty

Measured, evaluated, calculated, reviewed, predicted and unknown information are not silently blended together. If a defensible value or structure is not established, the page should say so rather than inventing a value to complete a table or visualization.

Originality and educational value

Shared components are used for consistent navigation and interaction, but the scientific story should remain element-specific. We do not intentionally create thin pages, duplicate keyword pages or filler solely to increase page count or advertising inventory.

Advertising and editorial independence

Advertising, sponsorships or affiliate relationships must not determine scientific conclusions, rankings, evidence labels or recommendations. Paid material must be visually separate from educational controls and clearly identifiable. See Advertising Policy and Affiliate Disclosure.

Corrections

Reports of factual, visual or technical problems are reviewed against the underlying sources and implementation. Shared defects are treated as shared-system problems rather than quietly patched on one page. See Corrections Policy.
